Printing Recommendations

  • The maximum printing area is 12×16 inches. Larger images will be scaled down depending on the t-shirt model and size.
  • Minimum Image Resolution: 150 DPI (dots per inches) to ensure optimal quality.
  • Maximum Image Resolution: 300 DPI (This is also the Recommended DPI in the printing industry)

Recommended File Format

  • Recommended file format is PNG
  • Upscaling: On input, images will appear at the size they show on the final product. For that reason, upscaling images is restricted to preserve quality.
  • Use an Image of 300 DPI for Best Quality
  • If needed, you can use this online DPI/Size to Pixel calculator to get the image size in pixels. For example, a 12" by 16" image on 300DPI will be an image of 3600 by 4800 pixels.

Best Practices

  • We do not recommend putting graphic(s) with a solid background unless it is part of your design. For example, when printing black ink on a black garment, the graphics will require a white under-base, which will change the density of the black ink. This means that the printed black and the black of the garment will differ, causing the print to appear gray. We suggest uploading a .png file with a transparent background.
  • Choose the right product material for your end result. There are different types of fabric to choose from for apparel:
    • 100% Cotton - Thinner cotton products work best for clearer prints. However, the thickness can also contribute to ink setting in and looking more faded, so heavier items like hoodies may have a slightly more faded graphic.
    • Polyblend or Tri-blend - the weave is looser, so the graphic will appear more faded than it does on 100% cotton. This is an excellent choice for a retro vibe, but also worth considering if you want your apparel to be softer.
  • We will not print copyrighted, hateful, or illicit content.
  • Create your design files in CMYK instead of RGB. This will help you avoid the neon colors that RGB can produce but aren’t possible in the world of printing. This will ensure you and your users have the most accurate representation of how your merchandise will turn out once printed. If you cannot create a file in CMYK, the best thing to do is design in RGB but steer clear of neon and highly saturated colors. You can see more on this topic in this article.
  • Avoid drop shadow and semi-transparent images in your design file. This is hard for printing to pick up, and layering images on top of each other can have mixed results.
  • If you have a complex image for your print files, create a simplified version for embroidery items.
