‘Tis the season for gifting! If you’re a Twitch streamer, YouTuber, or other type of content creator, a Throne wishlist is the perfect way for your audience to send you gifts. Many content creators do a lot of work and rarely receive compensation in return. Many fans enjoy donating to their favorite creators as a way to support their channels. If you’re on the fence about creating a wishlist, think of the people who may want to give back to you to show their appreciation. After all, giving gifts can be even more rewarding than receiving them.
What is Throne?
Throne is a platform that allows you to create a wishlist to share with your audience. With a focus on privacy, Throne will deliver iItems from your wishlist to your door while keeping your address and other personal information safe from prying eyes. When someone purchases an item for you from your wishlist, you can opt to have alerts show up on Twitch or Twitter.
How to Setup Your Throne Wishlist
First, make an account with Throne by connecting your email or social media account of choice. Today we’re going to set up an account through Twitch.
Click Sign in with Twitch and then Authorize. Next, select your country of residence. If your country isn’t on the list, this means that Throne cannot send gifts to you yet. The platform is still expanding so there’s a chance your country will be added in the future.
Write a little bit about yourself and the kind of content you create (this will be public).
Next, select the type of content you produce so Throne can recommend gifts to you accordingly.
Once you select Finish, you’ll be directed to your Throne homepage. From here you can add gifts to your wishlist and configure your alerts with platforms like Twitch and Twitter.
Click Add Gift to start your wishlist. Note that some countries (including Japan, the country we used to set up our wishlist) don’t allow the shipping of items to your home due to logistical issues. If Throne doesn’t support gift delivery in your country, you’ll receive Throne Withdrawals instead.
Copy and paste the link of an item you’d like to add to your wishlist. You can also select Cash Gifts if you want to receive funds instead of an item.
Add a short description, if you prefer, to the item you’ve selected. You can also enable Community Gifting. If an item you’re adding to your list is particularly expensive, you can allow multiple fans to donate to the same gift through Community Gifting. There’s not an official amount of what is “expensive” or not, as budgets and perceptions will differ from person to person. Use Community Gifting at your discretion.
Once you’ve finished adding items to your wishlist, click on Customize Page to give your Throne page a makeover. You can do things like add a header image, choose a color scheme, and add links to your social media.
Next, you’ll want to add your Throne wishlist link to your social media profile(s) in order to get verified. Throne requires you to verify your account before letting fans access your wishlist, in order to prove you are indeed the owner of your linked social account. By clicking on Throne Assets, you can access different buttons to display on your profile page. There are a few different color options to choose from so you can find one that works with your color scheme.
After you add your Throne link (and button, if desired) to your social media, click Request Account Approval. According to Throne, you’ll be approved in five to ten minutes. There will be a blue checkmark next to your profile once you're approved.
Now you’re ready to start accepting gifts, just in time for the holiday season! Throne allows fans to give back to their favorite creators and is perfect for streamers and content creators who are just starting out. With the Community Gifting feature, your followers can band together to help add things to improve your setup, such as a new graphics card or custom VTuber model. A tip page from Streamlabs Desktop is another great way to allow fans to donate and is free to use.
