In the past, Twitch has done its due diligence to help viewers understand what type of content they are watching and help streamers appropriately label live streams by adding the option to mark live streams as “Mature content.”
However, after introducing this labeling system, Twitch has gotten feedback from creators and viewers alike that it’s not always clear when a live stream should be labeled as mature. To help mitigate this issue and get a bit more specific, Twitch has introduced content classifications.

What Is Twitch Content Classification?
This new labeling system replaces the previous Mature Content Toggle option, allowing creators to be a bit more specific when marking content.
Below are the different classifications that can be used for Twitch live streams.
- Mature-Rated Games
- Sexual Themes
- Drugs, Intoxication, or Excessive Tobacco Use
- Violent and Graphic Depictions
- Significant Profanity or Vulgarity
- Gambling
To be clear, this doesn’t mean any changes to Twitch’s Community Guidelines. For more information, feel free to check out the official Content Classification Guidelines.
