In this edition of our Theme Designer Spotlight, we connected with StreamPulse Studio to talk design inspiration, favorite projects, and their journey into overlay creation.
What made you want to be a designer? How did you start designing overlays/alerts for streamers?
I’ve been naturally drawn to art since childhood. Over time, that interest evolved into the digital space, which eventually led me into design and motion. From the very beginning of my design career, I was very attracted toward streamer graphics that’s where most of my focus was. At the time, in my region, having high-quality stream overlays or polished visuals wasn’t very common, so I initially started by designing logos and thumbnails for streamers. As I explored more, I discovered stream overlays and alerts as a whole space, and that really clicked with me. I started experimenting with designing and animating overlays, learning through practice and continuously improving my style. Over time, I expanded beyond my local audience and began working in the global market, creating themes for a wider range of creators.
Could you share any insight into your design process? What are your inspirations?
We usually start by gathering references and building a moodboard to lock in the direction and overall vibe. From there, we plan the base static design and let the artboard evolve naturally as we design. Even while working on the static elements, we’re already thinking about the animation — how each element will move and feel. Once the design is ready, we take it into After Effects, bring it to life, refine the motion, and then finalize it for publishing. Our inspiration comes from a mix of things like games, UI design, motion graphics, and sometimes even music, anything that helps shape a strong visual mood.
What does it mean to be a business owner in the creator economy?
To us, it means building for creators, with creators in mind. It’s not just about selling designs, it’s about understanding how streamers express themselves and creating designs that become a part of their identity on stream. Being in the creator economy also means staying closely connected to trends, platforms, and community needs. Things evolve fast, so we’re constantly learning, adapting, and refining what we offer to stay relevant.
What are your favorite themes you've made to date?
Overlay Package: I like Shadows Feed for its dark, cinematic feel and the subtle detailing throughout the layout. The textures, framing elements, It feels immersive without being too heavy, and the animations complement the aesthetic instead of overpowering the stream.
Widget Theme: Beach Vibes stands out because it’s both visually fun and highly functional. It covers everything from chatbox, eventlist and alerts to goal widgets all within a consistent, vibrant theme.
Reactive Overlays: Again, Shadows Feed is my pick here because of how detailed the reactions are. It creates a strong connection between stream events and visuals.
Game Pulse: Red Dominion is my favorite game pulse widgets for its bold design language and impactful animations.
