Streamlabs, a leading provider of live streaming tools and brand of Logitech, is introducing a new monthly tipping service to help the live streaming community earn a consistent source of income. Viewers can now set up recurring tips for their favorite creators and receive redeemable alerts that they can choose to trigger whenever they want.
This new monthly tipping service aims to give creators another revenue source to earn a steady and reliable income. Excluding standard Paypal processing fees, one hundred percent of every tip goes directly to the creator.
Viewers can choose how much they'd like to contribute each month, or creators can set specific price points that are eligible for recurring payment.
"As the live streaming industry has grown, so has the need for a sustainable revenue model. Currently, most major streaming platforms provide viewers with a way to subscribe to a channel; however, they usually split the revenue from the subscription in half between the creators and platform," said Ashray Urs, Head of Product at Streamlabs. "In addition, platforms require a creator to meet certain qualifications before they can unlock the ability for viewers to subscribe. Streamlabs Creator Subscription is open for anyone with a Streamlabs tip page, regardless of size or how often they stream".
To encourage viewers to participate in monthly tipping, they are given redeemable alerts that allow them to manually choose when to play them on stream. After setting up a recurring tip, they will receive an email reminding them that they have a redeemable alert. This email directs them to the streamer's tip page, where they can manually fire the notification to ensure the streamer is live and can thank them on stream
Streamlabs plans to add additional functionality, such as leaderboards and badges, in the coming weeks to reward and incentivize new viewers to set up recurring tips. The leaderboard will appear on a streamer's tip page and will display the top recurring monthly tippers, and viewers will unlock new badges each month as long as their recurring tip is active.
