Are you looking to expand your audience as a live streamer? If so, then the Streamlabs Multistream feature is perfect for you! With the ability to stream on numerous platforms simultaneously, you'll be able to reach a wider audience and grow your fanbase. Our step-by-step guide will show you how to set up multistreaming via Streamlabs Desktop and other popular streaming software.
P.S. Before multistreaming on any two or more platforms, please check the respective platform's guidelines regarding multistreaming, as they are subject to change. Follow these guidelines to avoid putting your account at risk.
How to Multistream via Streamlabs Desktop
We created the Multistream feature from the ground up, making it simple and easy to use. Below is everything you need to know about multistreaming using Streamlabs Desktop (available for Streamlabs Ultra subscribers only).
Link Your Accounts
To get started, launch Streamlabs Desktop and click on the Settings cog. From there, open your Stream Settings and ensure your desired platform accounts are linked.
If the platforms you want to use are not listed, you can connect them through this window. If you use OBS Studio, the necessary steps are detailed in this blog post.
Creating Custom Destinations
If you can't find the website you want to stream to in the available options, or if you want to stream to multiple accounts on the same platform (for example, two YouTube accounts or Facebook pages. Facebook has removed the ability to stream directly to groups via third-party applications. To bypass this limitation and stream to a Facebook group, you must use a custom destination), you can add a custom destination. To do this, click Add Destination at the bottom of the window, then enter the RTMP URL and stream information for the additional platform manually.
Going Live
Once you have connected your platforms, you're ready to go live! Simply click Go Live in the bottom right corner of Streamlabs Desktop, and a menu will appear asking you to confirm your stream information.
Here, you need to provide information like a title, description, and category. You can also choose which platforms you want to go live on. Twitch and Facebook are selected in this example, but Trovo and YouTube are not.
Please note that the platform you are currently logged in with Streamlabs Desktop must go live and cannot be turned off. Therefore, to avoid going live on this platform, you must log out and log in with a different platform account.
Advanced Settings
For those who want extra control, toggle on Show Advanced Settings. On this page, you can fill out all the information for each platform individually. It also allows you to set more advanced platform-specific features like tags on Twitch, for example.
Lastly, click Confirm and Go Live, and you’ll instantly stream to multiple platforms simultaneously!
Multistreaming Without Streamlabs Desktop
Our multistreaming feature is also available for users not using Streamlabs Desktop to stream but may be using Streamlabs for other things like donations, alerts, etc. The following steps will guide you through how to set this up for use in other streaming applications, such as OBS Studio.
Enable Multistreaming
Go to the Multistream tab of your Streamlabs Dashboard. At the top, you will want to click Enable Multistream.
Link Accounts
At the bottom, you can link your accounts together. Press the Connect button and log in with the platforms that you would like to use. If you have previously linked your accounts, they will automatically show they are connected.
For Facebook, you can choose the page that you are streaming to by using the dropdown:
Custom Destinations
If you have additional Facebook/YouTube channels/custom RTMPs that you would like to stream to, you would need to add additional destinations.
By clicking Add Destination (towards the bottom), you can add a Name (or Nickname) and your custom RTMP URL and Stream Key. Once you have updated your information, press Save to have it populate at the bottom of the list under Custom.
Choosing Accounts
Toggle on each account that you wish to go live to. If it is green, it is selected to go live. If it is grey, then you will not go live on this channel. In this example, we would be going live to Twitch and YouTube but not to Facebook:
Adding Stream Information
Before you go live, you can update your information on each platform. For YouTube, you must complete this step.
You can enter your stream title and description for your stream. Then, press Save to continue.
Multistreaming in OBS Studio
You can also use Streamlabs to multistream in popular software such as OBS Studio. To do so, you will need to add your RTMP URL from Streamlabs into OBS. Open OBS Studio and Go to Settings > Stream > Service > Custom.
In the Server area, you will want to add the RTMP URL from the Multistream tab of Streamlabs.com that you were on earlier. You can copy the link using the button or click on Show > Select All > Copy.
Next, you will need to input your Stream Key into the Stream Key text box in OBS Studio. Use CTRL + V to paste into OBS Studio or Right-Click > Paste into each area. Then press OK if you want to close out of your settings area or Apply if you're going to continue adjusting other settings.
Now, you can push the Start Streaming button and go live on your selected platforms via OBS Studio.
