If you've been using Streamlabs Desktop and are transitioning to the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS, one of the main questions you might have is how to bring your settings and scene collections with you. While some settings can be transferred easily, there are limitations to what can be carried over automatically. This guide will help you understand what can and cannot be transferred.
Scenes and Scene Collections
When moving from Streamlabs Desktop to the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS, your scene collections can be imported seamlessly. OBS will automatically detect any scene collections you've created in Streamlabs Desktop, making the transition straightforward.
To import your scene collections, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open OBS with the Streamlabs Plugin installed.
Step 2: Open your Settings in OBS. Scroll down to Importers and turn on “Search known locations for scene collections when importing.” This way, OBS can auto-detect scenes from Streamlabs Desktop.
Step 3: Next, navigate to Scene Collection in the top menu and select Import.
Now, OBS should detect any scene collections from your Streamlabs Desktop setup. Select the scene collection you want to import. In this example, we selected the Vampire overlay.
Step 4: To activate your imported scene collection, click the Scene Collection option in the top navigation window, then select the scene collection you wish to apply in OBS.
Other Settings in Streamlabs Desktop
Unfortunately, not all settings can be transferred automatically. This means that while scene collections can be imported easily, other settings like your output configurations, hotkeys, and audio settings will need to be manually set up again in OBS. For everything else, setting up your configurations manually will ensure you have a smooth and customized streaming experience while using the Streamlabs Plugin of OBS.
