Playing music on stream doesn’t have to be difficult. With Streamlabs Music, you can access hundreds of stream-safe tracks and playlists of all sorts of genres for your stream. You can even customize playlists to ensure you set the vibes for your live stream from start to finish. Best of all, Streamlabs Music is totally free through Streamlabs Desktop!
Download Streamlabs Music from the App Store
Step 1: To get started, download the Streamlabs Music app. You can also find it in the app store by going to the navigation bar in Streamlabs Desktop and clicking on the App Store.
Step 2: Next, click on the Music category to find Streamlabs Music or type the name in the search bar. Click on the Install button next to the app to download.
A screen requiring you to sign up for a Songtradr account will appear. Don’t fear — it’s quick and easy to do. Type in your email address and check the Terms of Use box to accept. If you’re logged into Streamlabs with your Twitch account, the Twitch profile section should automatically be filled out. If you stream to both Twitch and YouTube Live, make sure you’ve pasted your respective channel links in both sections.
Step 3: After you click Get Started, you can browse the playlists and choose from different moods, such as “suspenseful” and “meditation.” There are also various music types, such as the ever so popular lofi music to synthwave, and even playlists inspired by specific games like Minecraft and League of Legends. There’s something for everyone with Streamlabs Music — your new favorite playlist is waiting for you!
How to Add Streamlabs Music as a Source
Step 1: You can either click on the button that says Add Widget in the Streamlabs Music app itself or add from your stream Editor by clicking the plus (+) sign next to Sources (as you would for adding a microphone, game capture, etc.).
Clicking Add Widget in the Streamlabs Music app will add the source to all of your scenes in your selected scene collection. If you have a lot of scenes and don’t want to add Streamlabs Music to all of them, we don’t recommend clicking this button (as you will have to go into scenes and delete the app source manually).
Step 2: A window asking you to name the source will appear. We recommend calling it “Streamlabs Music” or “Music,” something that will be easy for you to remember.
Step 3: From here, you can select Monitor Only (mute output), Monitor Off, and Monitor and Output. Below are the differences between each selection.
- Monitor Only (mute output): The source will show up in your mixer, but your viewers will not be able to hear the sound.
- Monitor Off: The source will not show up in your mixer, but your viewers can hear the sound.
- Monitor and Output: The source will show up in your mixer, and your viewers can hear the sound.
If you’re unsure which option to select, we recommend Monitor and Output. This way, your audience can hear Streamlabs Music, but you can quickly click the speaker icon in your mixer if you need to mute the app.
After you’ve added Streamlabs Music as a source, you’ll see a notification that says, “Music added to all scenes.” If you create any new scenes after this point, you will need to go back in and manually add Streamlabs Music as an audio source (as the app cannot add a source to scenes that don’t exist yet).
Do I Need to Add Streamlabs Music as a Source?
You do not need to add Streamlabs Music as a source to play your music on stream. However, if you want to tinker with more advanced settings, you can add it as a source and make adjustments through Advanced Audio Settings in the Mixer section of Streamlabs Desktop.
