Full Hearts Cat Rescue is a small Rochester, NY foster network-based cat rescue. It was officially recognized as a non-profit organization in 2022 after the founders were saving cats as private individuals since 2020.
We prioritize street cats. Cats left outdoors to fend for themselves are at great risk of illness and death, especially neonates, kittens, and former pets who lack the outdoor survival skills of their born and bred feral cousins.
Speaking of ferals, we also practice Trap Neuter Return, or TNR for short, where we use humane traps to bring unsocialized cats into clinics for spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a small cut removing the tip of their left ear for future identification. This is a standard practice that helps other trappers and rescuers see that an outdoor community cat has been fixed already. These cats are then returned to the territory that they call home, to live out their days, but now females won't have kittens, and male aggression is curbed.
The city of Rochester and the Greater Rochester area has been in crisis for many years when it comes to helping cats in need. We are one of many rescues in the area doing our best to help cats who slip through the cracks. As such, we typically do not take owner surrenders, though we try to offer advice and redirect to other resources when we receive such calls for help.

Our priority is the cats who have already ultimately failed: left behind outside when their owners have moved, young males kicked out when they start marking due to not being neutered, or worse of all, females kicked out or dumped somewhere else due to howling in heat, or already pregnant.
We have many vet and clinic partners to provide vet care to our rescued cats. Many of these vets and clinics are able to offer us bulk discounts via programs. As such, even a small donation to us can go a long way towards helping a cat.
We can spay a female for 80 dollars, and neuter a male for 60.
For 30, we can test a cat for diseases that are common to living outdoors or can be inherited from birth. This way we know which cats can safely live with others without the risk of disease transmission, and extra considerations an adopter has to be aware of for providing appropriate vet care going forward for a cat with a chronic condition.
20 dollars covers basic vaccines.
10 dollars pays for initial flea and parasite treatment for a cat.
We order many of our supplies from Chewy and are sales tax-exempt, so your direct donations go further. However, you can also order from our Chewy wishlist if you want to send us something specific we need.
We have a regularly updated website, active Facebook and Instagram pages, and a growing YouTube account, so you can always follow to see the cats and kittens you help save!
As we have been doing this for a few years, we do not have a lot of historical data to share with you just yet, however, we so far take in an average of 40 - 50 cats in a year, and find forever homes for 30-40, rolling over about ten cats into each new year. Within these numbers there are usually 2 to 3 ill or injured cats that need extra effort and resources, and usually one litter of neonate kittens without a mother requiring round-the-clock care of bottle feeding for 3-5 weeks. This work is one of passion, and everyone involved is a volunteer who has other jobs and commitments to balance. We have no paid staff, and personally pay out of pocket when we do not receive enough donations to support the cats.
We hope for your support in our life-saving endeavors.
