This June, Streamlabs is celebrating LGBTQIA+ streamers and the incredible work they’re doing for charities, the community, and themselves as they share their passions on stream! Today we’re here with Faevyn (they/he). A non-binary lifelong gamer, Faevyn enjoys bringing the love and comfort of gaming to those around them. Upon joining Twitch, Faevyn has become an affiliated streamer and strives to use gaming to connect with and do good for as many people as possible. Let’s hear more about Faevyn and their team, Sidequest.
Streamlabs will be hosting Faevyn on our Twitch channel from June 16th at 8 am PT. Stop by our channel before heading to Faevyn’s stream or visit them directly through their social media:
Twitch, Twitter, Website, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram
Can you provide some background on your channel and how you got started. How long have you been streaming and what do you typically like to stream?
I have been streaming since January 2020 and I started out shiny hunting in Pokémon Sword! I had been doing some hunting offline and decided one day I wanted to share this with others. I then went out to Best Buy and bought what I needed to stream. On my channel I try and keep a warm environment while having as much fun as possible and being real about what's going on in the world around us while fundraising alongside my teammates on Team Sidequest.
What was it about streaming that initially interested you and inspired you to give it a try?
Honestly, I was spending a lot of time offline playing video games and I just decided it would be nice to share the wins and losses with other people who also enjoy the same video games as me.
What is the most important thing to you about being an LGBTQIA+ streamer?
I like that there's a chance that somewhere out there someone who is LGBTQIA+ could come by my stream and see me doing something I love and enjoy and possibly inspire them and show them there's a future for those who are like me or them.
Are there other LGBTQIA + streamers that you are inspired by?
There are so so many, so this list isn't entirely comprehensive, but the short list is: CafeEla, Delphron, ThatNerdViolet, MiladyConfetti, LuciaEverblack, and cypheroftyr.
Do you have any tips for new streamers entering the space?
Just focus on being the best version of yourself each stream, be honest with yourself especially when it comes to mental health, and while breaks can sometimes be scary take them if and when you need them.
In your opinion, what makes a good/engaging live stream for viewers?
It's very hard to pin down because I enjoy all different kinds of streamers from relaxed and chill to chaotic. Usually the feel of the streamer's authenticity and enjoyment of the game they're playing is what does it for me.
What kind of activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of streaming and creating content?
Outside of streaming and creating content I love watching a variety of movies or television shows with my fiancé, caring for my bearded dragon Chronos and kitten Tisby, working on my first novel, and playing video games with my friends.
How do you avoid burnout and stay motivated as a creator?
Sometimes burnout creeps up on you without you realizing it's coming no matter what you try and do to stop it but for me if I lean on my team (whether it's friends, moderators, or teammates) as well as schedule my time and breaks it tends to help it from sneaking up on me.
Anything else you want to share with Streamlabs readers?
The best advice I can give to other LGBTQIA+ people is "Be who you needed when you were younger."
