Have you heard? The Streamlabs Cross Clip mobile app has gotten a huge upgrade and facelift. Now, not only are you able to store and share clips from your mobile device, you can create clips in-app as well. Turning your live stream recordings or other long-form content to short-form videos for your favorite platforms is now easier than ever. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about navigating the Cross Clip app, from creating your first clip to getting the most out of Streamlabs Cross Clip with an Ultra subscription.
Creating a Clip
There are two ways to upload content for your clip—copying and pasting a Twitch/Kick Clip URL or uploading a video stored in your phone album (up to 50 MB or 1 GB with Ultra). If you’re going the clip URL route, paste the link in the designated field and select Create Clip. If you’re uploading a video instead, select Upload Video, find the video in your photo album, then click Choose. You can also play the video before selecting it to double-check it’s the correct video you wish to use.
Select Your Time Frame
After you upload a clip, you’ll be brought to the Cross Clip editor. At the bottom of the editor, you’ll find a yellow slider. Use the slider to shorten or lengthen the clip to your liking. After setting the length of your clip, select Next.
Select Input Regions
This screen is where you’ll do the bulk of the editing of your clip.
- Start by selecting the orientation of your video. The choices are Portrait, Landscape, or Square.
- Next, choose whether you want to keep Show Input Borders by toggling it on or off.
- You can select the inputs for your clip under Layers. By default, you’ll see Camera and Content layers.
- To add a layer, click the Add Layer button. Select the Trash Can button next to the layer’s name to delete a layer. For each layer, you can switch the orientation and unlock or lock the layers.
- To determine what shows on each layer, use the input borders to zoom in and out on what should be displayed in the view. You can also move them across the screen to focus on a specific part of the scene.
- After you’ve made all necessary changes to your input regions, click the yellow Next button.
Arranging Output Regions
- On this screen, you can change the output format, blur the background if needed, remove or add the Cross Clip watermark (Streamlabs Ultra subscribers only) and toggle off the outro. Make changes as you see fit.
- Here, you can preview your clip by pressing the play button or muting the audio. Before continuing to the next screen, rewatch your video to ensure it’s edited to your liking.
Saving and Compiling Your Clip
Now, it’s time to save your clip to upload to the platform of your choice.
- Start by giving your clip a title. This will help you stay organized when searching for clips in the My Clips section of the app (a bit more on this later).
- Select your frames per second and the quality you want to export, then hit Compile. In most cases, compiling your clip takes only 30 seconds to a minute.
- Once your clip is ready, you’ll receive a notification via email. You can also find your clips by clicking the Movie Reel icon from the home screen of the Cross Clip app.
- To share your clip, find the clip in your My Clips tab and click the Share button on the clip. You’ll see one last preview of the video and a pink Share Clip button at the bottom of the screen. Click Share Clip.
- Next, select how you’d like to share the clip. Some options include sharing with contacts, saving your photo album, and uploading to different platforms such as TikTok or Instagram. Choose your preferred destination and follow any steps to complete the upload process.
- That’s it! You’ve created your first clip using the Streamlabs Cross Clip mobile app.
