What was the moment that made you say to yourself, “I want to be a Twitch streamer/content creator?”
I don’t know if that ever happened. I wanted to play in a tournament organized by a content creator I admired and to do that I had to stream my games. So I figured out how to stream and I just kept doing it after the tournament because people wanted to hear my thoughts on the game. I have always been a perfectionist, and if I am going to do something I want to do it well, so I kept trying to improve my streams and YouTube videos, and here we are.
How did you get into MTG?
I was at a week-long summer Boy Scout camp when I was twelve. One of the guys brought a starter deck, we would cut it in half, and battle each other. I was hooked on day one. The “best card” was Rock Hydra. The set was Revised.
If there’s anything you could go back and tell yourself before starting out in this industry, what would it be?
To always be yourself, even though not everyone will like it. That’s ok. I spent too much time trying to be a perfectly likeable character and that just isn’t me, and it isn’t most people. It’s not worth changing who you are to get everyone to like you.
What are some recommendations you have for people that want to grow their Twitch/YouTube channel?
Figure out where the crossover is between what you enjoy, and what your fans enjoy, and do more of that. Find ways to improve on that. Build a reputation on delivering on that. Be consistent, be relentless, be creative, and don’t give up.
What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of streaming?
I coach the Traverse City Toxic Cherries, a women’s roller derby team in my hometown.
What is something your viewers may be surprised to learn about you?
Most are surprised by my age, I am 40 but I look 27.
What has been the most memorable moment of your streaming career so far?
I’ve had some memorable moments, such as battling and beating pro players I idolized and streamers I admired, to raising tens of thousands of dollars for charities. I don’t know how to pick just one. But I do know the best is yet to come.
